What a first stage in this Craftsman Truck Series race at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Corey Heim just got Kyle Larson to win Stage 1. These NASCAR drivers are putting on a show for the fans tonight.

Corey Heim, Kyle Larson, and Layne Riggs were buzzing around each other the entire first stage. They traded blows and passes. You really couldn’t ask for better racing, especially in this series.

When you look at Riggs and Heim racing a Cup Series champion like Larson it has to make you smile. These two young drivers look like future Cup drivers themselves tonight.

These drivers have been putting on a show. Corey Heim is fantastic. He is going to be a Cup Series driver soon. 23XI Racing can’t keep him out of the car much longer, to be honest. No offense to Riley Herbst, but that third car is as good as Heim’s.

Layne Riggs is a revelation as well. Seeing him cut it up with these talented drivers is so much fun. His father Scott Riggs has to be happy watching him. He is a driver who will make the Front Row Motorsports Cup drivers nervous.

There is a lot of talent in this Truck Series. Don’t let anyone tell you there isn’t. When I see Cup Series drivers raise the bar like this, it makes me want to see more of it. Let’s either lift the restriction or expand it to more races. Eight or ten races a year for Xfinity and Cup drivers feel reasonable.

As a sport, NASCAR can’t develop talent if they don’t put developing drivers against top-tier drivers. It is not easy to do, anyway. Sometimes you need to have a Kyle Busch or Kyle Larson or Ross Chastain come in and force the young driver to step their game up.

Kyle Larson spins battling Layne Riggs

Kyle Larson tried to make a move to pass Layne Riggs and Ross Chastain at the same time. It didn’t work out. Riggs was right there on Larson’s side.

The two drivers made contact and things went around for Larson. To his credit, like he was in a sprint car, he spun it around and kept things moving. It was just too late.

Corey Heim, Kyle Larson, and Layne Riggs have delivered a very exciting race for NASCAR fans. Ty Majeski and Ross Chastain have also been great. If you like stock car racing this is about as good as it gets.

This was just a moment where Larson overstepped. It happens. He is a fantastic driver but that means he is at times a better driver than his vehicle is a race car/truck. That leads to moments like this.
