After a lot of speculation over how his 2025 NASCAR season would look, Corey Heim is returning to Tricon Garage and the Craftsman Truck Series. Heim has six wins this season with only one more race, and a shot at a championship, remaining.
With how talented Corey Heim is, it is surprising to see him not land an Xfinity Series ride. Or even a Cup Series ride for 2025. There was a time when he was rumored to be joining 23XI Racing as the third driver.
While those rumors were around, they went away quickly. Then Heim was seemingly in no-man’s land. Well, he has a ride, the same ride he has had for the last two seasons.
Corey Heim is good enough to get a promotion. He just is. When Cup drivers talk about Heim they see him as a future star in the sport. So, why is he going for another year in the Truck Series after seemingly proving everything he can there?
Well, it’s somewhat political. Funding is needed. Heim doesn’t have a great relationship with Ty Gibbs. So, moving up to JGR would be difficult, especially when Ty is a car owner in the Xfinity Series next year.
Then there is a lack of funding for the Cup Series. Heim has support, but he doesn’t have as much as other drivers. In the current system, that means he is going to get overlooked for those bigger rides.

Just how good can Corey Heim be next year?
Corey Heim has been dominant, can he get better?
If there is one way for Corey Heim to improve in 2025, it is to have a Christian Eckes-type season. But without Eckes in the Truck Series, Heim may be free to rack up double-digit wins if no one emerges to challenge him.
While Heim leads the series in wins, Eckes has been a model of consistency. Only once this season, a DNF at Atlanta in Week 2, has Eckes failed to finish in the top-10. He has an average finish this season of 5.5.
Heim has been fantastic. Can he put up ARCA numbers in the Truck Series though? Honestly, yes, I believe he can. Another year in this series isn’t the worst thing ever given how much the trucks align with the Next Gen car in the Cup Series. But it is a little disappointing I’m sure for Heim himself.
Next year, Corey Heim has an opportunity to leave no doubt in people’s minds. He can go out and dominate the season without much challenge from another veteran like himself. If things go right tomorrow night, Heim could be defending a championship in 2025.
