Corey LaJoie, Shane van Gisbergen have awkward social media exchange over footwork, Onlyfans

During the NASCAR Cup Series race at COTA, the FOX broadcast had a foot cam on Shane van Gisbergen. Corey LaJoie liked that. A lot.

SVG has an unusual style of driving when compared to other stock car racers, his heel-toe and right foot braking, while using his left foot to pump the clutch appear to give him an edge over others.

While FOX was showing Shane van Gisbergen going at it on his pedals, Corey LaJoie couldn’t help himself. He loved what he was seeing so much, he may have created the most hilarious and awkward exchange in the Cup Series for quite some time.

“I would buy an Onlyfans subscription of [SVG’s] footwork,” LaJoie tweeted on Sunday.

This morning, Shane van Gisbergen has responded in kind.

Just a perfect exchange. Weird joke by LaJoie, embraced by SVG, and the Stacking Pennies reference – you couldn’t script that better. NASCAR fans have already swarmed to both tweets to laugh and joke along with the drivers.

Seeing drivers joking around online and having fun is great. We need more of these funny and awkward moments. Little exchanges that don’t really have much to do with racing.

Corey LaJoie is going to be a personality during the Prime Video stretch of the schedule. So, we are likely to get more quips and funny comments from the Stacking Pennies driver. On top of that, we will see LaJoie multiple times this season with Rick Ware Racing.

As for Shane van Gisbergen, he pulled off a P6 finish at COTA. Big points day and solid performance overall for SVG. However, it is all about getting a win on one of these road courses and punching a ticket to the playoffs.

Shane van Gisbergen sole highlight for Trackhouse at COTA

Despite having four drivers in the race, Trackhouse Racing had a very lackluster day. In fact, they had a lot of friendly fire along the way as well. From Lap 1 things were going poorly for Trackhouse and its drivers.

Ross Chastain sent it into the inside of Turn 1 on the first lap of the race. He spun out Chase Elliott, caused a pile-up, Denny Hamlin’s car was damaged in the race, and most importantly, Connor Zilisch was involved. Not only making his Cup debut, but Chastain’s teammate.

Then, as the final stage was opening, Daniel Suárez lost control of his car and spun out. Zilisch tried to avoid the 99 car but the two collided and it took them both out of the race.

Meanwhile, Shane van Gisbergen was the only top-10 finisher for Trackhouse. At one point it looked like they would be able to land all four drivers in that top group. It just didn’t end up that way in the end.
