The Dallas Cowboys have been dealing with some major injuries to their defensive unit in the past few weeks. Unfortunately, on Sunday Night Football against the Pittsburgh Steelers, things got worse for the franchise. Dallas rookie defensive end Marshawn Kneeland was carted to the locker room, according to the NBC broadcast. He twisted up his right knee a bit while trying to make a tackle. Kneeland couldn’t put much pressure on his right leg as he was helped to the medical tent.

During the broadcast, NBC sideline reporter Melissa Stark updated his status.

“Mike you mentioned the Cowboys came to Pittsburgh without their two top pass rushers. And now an injury to another defensive end. We saw Marshawn Kneeland. The athletic training staff checking the stability of his right knee. He spent some time in the medical tent. And then he was helped onto a cart, putting no weight on that right leg. Grimacing. Official word from the team, he’s questionable with a knee injury,” Stark explained.

He left the game early in the first quarter. The Cowboys are already without their top three pass rushers, Micah Parsons, DeMarcus Lawrence, and Sam Williams. Losing Kneeland would be a crushing blow to their defensive roster.

Parsons and Lawrence are two of the most critical players on their roster. The Dallas defense still played pretty impressive on Sunday night, despite all of the injuries. They still managed to get a decent amount of pressure on Steelers quarterback Justin Fields and held them to 17 points with 4:56 remaining in the game.

Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott had his third turnover of the game late in the fourth quarter. And the Steelers took it and turned it into points, as Justin Fields connected with tight end Pat Freiermuth on a shovel pass for the score.
