Cowboys legend Darren Woodson raves about Dallas defense
As a three-time Super Bowl winner with the Dallas Cowboys, former NFL safety Darren Woodson knows about great defense. The former Arizona State star joined NFL insider Adam Schefter on his podcast this week and raved about his team’s defense – led by edge rusher Micah Parsons.
“Defensively, it’s where it’s at for this football team now,” Woodson said. “They have so much depth. They rush the passer, the cover on the back end and there’s a mentality of ‘we’re not going to give you an inch.’ I saw yesterday, they gave up a touchdown to the Jets and the fight that ensued on the sideline, it’s the natural way of going about your business when you’re an elite defense. Someone’s going to take the blame… There’s some friction on the sideline, which is natural for good defense. You could see that with the Baltimore Ravens back then.
“That’s the type of defense that you have now and it’s led by probably one of the best players I’ve seen in a long time. I don’t know if I’ve seen someone as destructive as Micah Parsons. First, second, third down, you move him around… he disrupts the entire game.”
The Cowboys defense is responsible for seven takeaways and 10 sacks through two games this season. Their scoring margin, according to NFL research, is the second-best through two games in franchise history. That’s largely thanks to the defense holding opponents to just 10 points.
Dallas Cowboys dominating through two weeks
The Dallas Cowboys left AT&T Stadium with a 30-10 win over the Jets on Sunday after shutting out the Giants 40-0 in Week 1.

“When you’re playing balanced football from offense to defense to special teams, it’s extremely fun,” Micah Parsons said after his two-sack performance. “We’re having so much fun with this group. It’s a special group, and I don’t think people know just how special it is yet.”
As if the final scores haven’t been enough of a message to the league, Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb laid it out plain and simple on Sunday.
“We’re here to dominate,” Lamb said. “We’re not here to play around. We understand what’s at stake, week in and week out, and we’re constantly preparing ourselves to be the best team that we can be — offense, defense and special teams. Every week that we come out here, we wanna be better than last week.”
Next on the schedule for Dallas is a road game on Sunday afternoon against the 0-2 Arizona Cardinals.
