Cowboys linebacker DeMarvion Overshown out vs Seahawks with knee injury
DeMarvion Overshown, a rookie linebacker for the Cowboys, is out of the game because of a knee injury.
That’s according to Nick Eatman, the sideline reporter for the Dallas Cowboys network. Overshown, the Cowboys third-round pick from Texas, appeared to hurt his left knee when he was tackling Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet.
The Cowboys athletic training staff took Overshown off the field via a cart. Eatman said he’s out for the game. Coincidentally, this is the second Cowboys linebacker and second Longhorn to suffer an injury in consecutive preseason games. Malik Jefferson was injured last week.
DeMarvion Overshown did get up under his own power. He also walked to the cart after leaving the medical tent.

The former Longhorn star has been living out a football dream this summer in training camp. He grew up in Arp, Texas, as a Cowboys fan. He played extensively in last Saturday’s preseason opener versus the Jaguars. It definitely was a bucket list kind of moment, even if it was only the preseason. He suited up for the first time in a Cowboys uniform and played at AT&T Stadium.
“I did [have to settle my emotions,” Overshown said after the game, via the team’s website. “Definitely. Putting the jersey on and putting my armbands on my sleeve and realizing I was about to do this for the Dallas Cowboys. A lot of people dream about it. A lot of people say, ‘Man, I wanna do that.’
“I’m part of that one percent that gets the chance to do that. Before the game, I took five deep breaths and soaked it in. I wouldn’t wanna be [any]where else. I’m glad to be here. I’m looking forward to the rest of the year.”
Overshown led the Cowboys defense with six tackles.
“Just getting out there and flying around,” DeMarvion Overshown said of the experience. “Really putting on tape that that’s how I play ball — I like flying around. I’m happy when I’m out there and I’m passionate when I’m out there. I’m looking forward to turning on the tape and definitely cleaning up the stuff that didn’t go well but, other than that, I’m ready to move forward and get better from this game.
