Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons definitely is enamored with Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill. He tweeted about him this weekend and devoted part of his podcast to discussing Cheetah’s skills.

Parsons believes Hill is good enough for NFL MVP honors if he does eclipse 2,000 receiving yards. What’s so special about 2,000? That would be an NFL record. Hill still is on track for the standard with five games to play. More about that later in the story.

On Sunday, Parsons and the rest of the Cowboys were enjoying a day off after playing Thursday night. So Parsons live tweeted his thoughts on some of the games. He caught Hill and the Dolphins overwhelming the Commanders as they try for the top seed in the AFC.

Parsons was stunned by how fast Hill could move. He posted: “NFL we need to ban Tyreek from running full speed. He’s obviously at an advantage of speed that no one has!”

Cowboys saw dazzling speed burn them against Seahawks

That begs the question. Can we quantify Hill’s speed? Well, he has three of the top 10 fastest runs in the league this season. This past week, he turned in the second fastest time. That was on his 78-yard run which came in the first quarter against the Commanders. He got up to 21.68 miles per hour. And that wasn’t even his fastest of the season.

Parsons brought up Cheetah in his podcast. “Tyreek Hill will win offensive player of the year. If he breaks that record, he should be MVP.” But Parsons also hedged. Because he also named Dak Prescott, his teammate, as his top candidate.

Meanwhile, Parsons and the rest of the Cowboys defense also were on the wrong end of some sizzling speed in their last game. DK Metcalf sprinted for his 73-yard TD against the Cowboys as he averaged 22.23 mph. That run was not only the quickest of the week, but the fastest of the season.

Dallas defense meets Hill, Tua on Christmas Eve

Now, let’s bring it back to what Parsons said about Hill and the MVP award. Hill, who likes to go by the nickname Cheetah, set out to become the first NFL receiver to surpass 2,000 yards in a season. He’s sitting on 1,481 yards, needing 519 in his next five games. It’ll mean Hill will need to average nearly 104 yards a game. But that’s doable for the likes of Hill.

The Cowboys will spend Christmas Eve in South Florida when Dallas plays the Dolphins in Miami Gardens. Maybe Parsons will discuss the following theory with Hill, so long as Tua Tagovailoa isn’t in the conversation.

“I am talking crazy right now and I’m talking very crazy,” Parsons said in his podcast. “I truly believe I could be Tyreek Hill’s quarterback. (And) I could throw it up to Tyreek Hill. I could throw a screen pass to Deebo. And this might be the crazy Madden side of me, but these players are just that good. Christian McCaffrey is just that good. If I get the ball out to Christian McCaffrey in space, he’s gonna make someone miss. He’s gonna make a play happen for me.”

(Parsons also has included Deebo Samuel and Christian McCaffrey in his MVP conversation).
