Cowboys QB Cooper Rush pulls a Mark Sanchez, butt fumbles off of Rico Dowdle vs. Panthers

Mark Sanchez‘s infamous “Butt Fumble” on Thanksgiving Day 2012 has evolved — 12 years later. This time, it was Dallas Cowboys (5-8) quarterback Cooper Rush who unfortunately fumbled the ball away off the backside of his own teammate.
The latest “Butt Fumble” occurred in Sunday’s Week 15 game between the Cowboys and Panthers, Rush making contract with running back Rico Dowdle on a fake hand-off.

Now, the “Butt Fumble” unfortunately defined Sanchez’s career. The visual of Sanchez running into his own teammate in Brandon Moore made it difficult for it not to. Rush’s rendition looked just a bit different, so hopefully for his sake, he won’t be remembered just for this.
Panthers take advantage of Cooper Rush ‘Butt Fumble’
For now, the worst thing to come from this was the aftermath. Carolina not only recovered the fumble, but quarterback Bryce Young found receiver Jalen Coker for an 83-yard score on the very next play. Coker’s second touchdown of the season gave the Panthers their first points of the game, cutting Dallas’ lead to 10-7 going into halftime.
