Mazi Smith, the Cowboys first-round draft pick, received good MRI results after doctors took another look at his knee.

Smith, the former Michigan Wolverine, has been dealing with tendinitis in camp. He missed practice, Tuesday, for the MRI to get a more extensive look at his knee.

But he was back Wednesday to participate in a light walk through workout.

The Dallas Morning News, quoting an unnamed source, said Smith’s results showed no damage. “He’s fine,” the source told the DMN. And that’s tremendous news for the Cowboys because Smith, the nose tackle, is making an impact at the Oxnard, Calif., training camp.

Fans already consider him a favorite. After all, after the Cowboys put on pads for the first time, Smith said he doesn’t like trash talking. Instead, he said “Nah, I’m trying to hit you. I don’t got nothing to say; I don’t even like football. I like hitting people.”

Cowboys starting center also checked for ankle sprain

The Cowboys also had some medical concerns with Pro Bowl center Tyler Biadasz. He left practice, Tuesday, with an ankle injury. Again, an MRI revealed no significant damage. The Morning News reported that neither Smith nor Biadasz is expected to miss significant time. The Cowboys picked Biadasz in the fourth round of the 2020 draft. He earned a spot in the Pro Bowl last season.

The Morning News reported that Biadasz rolled his right ankle 30 minutes into practice. He was participating in an 11-on-11 drill when he hurt the ankle. Tight end Sean McKeon blocked safety Markquese Bell, who fell on Biadasz’s ankle from behind. The center initially stayed on the field, but he then walked to the medical tent with the head trainer.
