The Dallas Cowboys have signed defensive tackle Linval Joseph, it was reported on Wednesday by NFL insider Josina Anderson. He is a 14-year NFL veteran who most recently played for the Buffalo Bills in 2023.

Joseph is a two-time Pro Bowler who won a Super Bowl with the New York Giants in the 2011 season. He has recorded 394 tackles (57 for loss), 26.5 sacks and eight forced fumbles across his career.

The defensive lineman played his college football for East Carolina and was a second-round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft. He spent his first four seasons with the Giants before going on to spent the next six years with the Minnesota Vikings.

Now Joseph will reunite with Cowboys defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer, who was his head coach with the Vikings. Mike Garafalo of NFL Network reported that Joseph’s contract will include $2.5 million guaranteed with the opportunity to earn up to $4 million.

It’s the latest signing for Dallas during training camp to bolster the defensive line. Joseph joins the likes of Jordan Phillips, Carl Lawson, and Al-Quadin Muhammad as new Cowboys.

Dallas is coming off of a loss in the wild card round of the playoffs this year and kicks off the regular season on Sept. 8 against the Cleveland Browns.

Jones expressed optimism about a deal as the Cowboys get ready for their third and final preseason game this week. Lamb has been holding out of training camp as he looks for a long-term contract, and Jones previously made headlines when he said there was “no urgency.” He later clarified that remark.

Now, it sounds like things are going well. Jones said the negotiations are ongoing, but there’s still solid communication between the two sides.

“I don’t mean that to be insensitive to our fans or to CeeDee, but we’re in good shape there and we are having promising talks,” Jones said of Lamb, via ESPN’s Todd Archer. “You say, ‘Well, why do you keep talking? Why don’t you do something?’ Again, as in anything, it takes both of you there at the same time.

“But I believe it’s got the proper amount of everything – emphasis, importance – for everybody involved here and we’ll see how it goes.”
