Thursday Night Football is underway from the Meadowlands and the officials have already created some controversy. Following a Daniel Jones run, a facemask penalty was called against the New York Giants, setting them back 15 yards. One play later, they fell short of the first down and settled for a field goal.

But when looking at the replay, it shows the flag should have been thrown on the Dallas Cowboys. More specifically, linebacker DeMarvion Overshown. A huge swing as New York would have gotten an automatic first down and moved into the red zone.

“You see the facemask,” Kirk Herbstreit said during the Amazon Prime broadcast. “At least we saw one of Overshown there.” Herbstreit has to be thinking what a lot of Giants fans are thinking from the stands and even back home.

Dallas has not been a great defense in general but even worse when trying to keep teams away from touchdowns inside the 20 yards. The Saints and Ravens feasted, mainly in the run game against the interior defensive tackles.

Unfortunately, the Giants will have to accept the missed call and work with a field goal. Getting an early lead had to be key for head coach Brian Daboll with the offensive output the Cowboys expect to put up on the other side.

After all, it’s more than they scored against Dallas last season at home.

Dan Orlovsky explains why the Dallas Cowboys set Dak Prescott up to fail

Dan Orlovsky didn’t hold back when discussing the issues with the Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys offense. On ESPN’s Get Up, the former NFL quarterback explained why the Cowboys have let Prescott down at the start of the season.

“I don’t think there’s an offense in football that sets their quarterback up to fail more than the Cowboys do than Dak Prescott,” Orlovsky said. “The fundamental ways to get your quarterback to play better or make it easier to play better, you run the football, the Cowboys can’t. You use play-action, the Cowboys don’t, you use motion, the Cowboys don’t, you throw screens, the Cowboys don’t.

“They’re bottom three or four in a couple of them, bottom 10 essentially in all of them. In many ways, they’re saying Dak Prescott, we want this to be as hard as possible on you.”
