Dak Prescott is elated to be healthy and training his entire body this offseason, but it also couldn’t come at a better time. The Cowboys have some new faces in their receiving corps, and it’s important Prescott is on the same page as them.

While CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup are returning to the franchise, additions like former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver James Washington and third round pick Jalen Tolbert are readying for their first season with Dallas. During a media scrum, the former Mississippi State quarterback addressed how he’s getting to know his wide receiving corps.

“We’ll get together,” Prescott responded, when asked about Lamb missing some time this offseason. “Fortunately, I have a field at the house. We’ll make sure we get out there a few times, and make-up that chemistry. Just get some of those routes and some of those things that we may not feel comfortable on. But CeeDee’s a guy that we’ve been working, we’ve worked all the way up until this point.

“He’s not necessarily one that I’m talking about, but James [Washington] and some of these other guys, we’ll make sure we get some extra time in.”

Luckily, the Cowboys quarterback has a tremendous idea to get to know his receiving corps, stating he’s looking to organize some out-of-practice fun.

“I still plan to do it. It’s just something to break the monotonous cycle,” explained Prescott, when asked if he’s going to take his teammates on a trip. “Whether it’s the building, whether it’s my field, just get the guys in a different environment. Train, make it a little fun and get some camaraderie at the same time.”

Dak Prescott has huge expectations for the 2022 season, and his receiving corps will play a big role in his success. Thankfully, the Cowboys star quarterback has a plan for them all to be on the same page.

When speaking to the media recently, Prescott gave an update on his health, saying everything is good to go. He then explained why it’s important to be healthy this offseason, citing the young receiving core the Cowboys have on their roster.

“I feel great,” Prescott said. “Not being restricted, being able to do every drill, everything, and it counts. It matters. Being able to get out there and having so many reps with these young guys, having such a young receiving core, young team.

“Just being able to rotate those guys but me actually getting in there with those reps. Having to explain some of the things to them but those are good, quality reps for me and some of those guys when we actually need them in the fall.”

CeeDee Lamb is going to take over as the No. 1 target this season after Amari Cooper was traded to the Cleveland Browns. Michael Gallup, who himself is also coming off injuries, has a fresh new contract and will continue his contributions. Dallas will be looking for others to step up as well and roll the offensive success into 2022.

As for Prescott, he was also asked how he has improved this offseason. He gave a couple of examples but said he was working on everything while getting back to full strength.

“I mean, everything,” said Prescott. “Throwing the ball from every platform. Using my back leg. Every throw, keeping it under me. It’s paid off.”
