Dallas Cowboys (3-2) quarterback Dak Prescott and receiver CeeDee Lamb are working on getting on the same page following the 42-10 Week 5 defeat to the San Francisco 49ers (5-0) this past Sunday.

The connection between the two hasn’t been as potent as it was last season when Lamb recorded a career-high 107 receptions for 1,359 yards and nine touchdowns. Through five games this season, Lamb has found the end zone just once, and has been held to under 55 yards three times.

Lamb said Friday that Prescott approached him earlier in the week to talk things out.

“If you have a problem with anything, just come up to me and we’ll talk about it,” Lamb said that Prescott said, via Jon Machota of The Athletic.

Prescott, meanwhile, told the media he understands Lamb’s frustration, and hasn’t lost confidence in his No. 1 target.

“I mean, a frustrated player/person that feels like we all could’ve done better and feels like he can change the game, I understand it. I really do,” Prescott said. “So it’s in the sense of just communicating with him. … CeeDee is a guy that I’ll never lose confidence in and trust who he is and understand why he’s frustrated. But at the end of the day, he’s a leader.

“It’s about him leading other guys and picking other guys up and him just trying to make sure we’re all pushing our best. That’s where the frustration, we have to remove that. And he will. He’s a young player that’s growing by the day and he’ll only get better. He’ll be better because of that. Frustrating times.”

Dak Prescott humbled by latest Cowboys loss

Like Lamb, Prescott has had a frustrating 2023 campaign. Prescott has thrown for 1,061 yards with five touchdowns and four interceptions on 69.4% passing. He and the Cowboys’ offense were stifled by San Francisco’s defense, as the 30-year-old threw for just 153 yards to go along with three interceptions.

Prescott described the game as perhaps the most humbling one he’s ever been a part of.

“Didn’t see it coming,” Prescott said. “Put everything into this, and got punched in the mouth. It was humbling a couple weeks ago against Arizona. But this may be the most humbling game I’ve ever been a part of. Felt good about the preparation. Felt good about everything honestly coming into this game and they beat us in every aspect.”
