Dak Prescott calls Micah Parsons 'a hell of a player,' jokes he will ask for offensive snaps
The Dallas Cowboys improved to 6-2 on Sunday thanks to a 49-29 win over the Chicago Bears. During the game, Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons recovered a fumble and scored his first-career NFL touchdown, which firmly put the game out of the Bears’ reach. After the game, Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott joked that Parsons is going to start asking for offensive snaps because of that play.
“Honestly, I’m like, ‘Jeez, I’m going to hear about this for a while about how he needs to run the ball and be on offense,’” Prescott said, according to Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News. “…That guy is a hell of a player. One of the best in the league.”
In his second season in the NFL, Parsons has emerged into a star around the league. Parsons currently has 36 tackles on the season, 26 of which were solo tackles. Entering the weekend, Parsons had eight sacks on the season, which was second in the league by half a sack. Parsons’ play currently has him as the odds-on favorite to be named the defensive MVP of the NFL.

Of course, this is no shock to those who watched Parsons at the college level. In just two seasons at Penn State, Parsons recorded 191 tackles, 18 of which were for loss, and 6.5 sacks. Parsons sat out the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic but then went on to be drafted 10th overall by the Cowboys. Parsons was named the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Year and was First Team All-Pro last season.

Cowboys remain impressive on defense
Along with the impressive play of Parsons, the Cowboys have put together one of the NFL’s most impressive defenses in 2022. Dallas entered the weekend as the NFL’s No. 6 overall defense, giving up just 305.3 yards per game and the No. 2 scoring defense, giving up 14.9 points per game.
After a tough 19-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to open the season, Dallas has won six of its last seven games. The Cowboys currently sit at 6-2 overall, which has them in third place in the NFC East. The Philadelphia Eagles lead the division at 7-0, while the New York Giants — who were playing at the time of this story’s publication — sit in second at 6-1.
