Seeing a division rival win the Super Bowl can never be easy. But the Dallas Cowboys watching the Philadelphia Eagles hoist the Lombardi Trophy has to sting just a little more. Two bitter NFC East rivals, the Eagles now have two titles this century while the Cowboys have yet to even make the NFC Championship game.

They will consistently be compared to one another and Dak Prescott was asked his opinion on Tuesday. If the Eagles are currently the NFL’s gold standard, where do the Cowboys stand? Prescott believes “very close.”

“I feel like we compete with the Eagles and beat them, for the most part when we’ve played them,” Prescott said. “I don’t want to say ‘Check the record’ when they’re the guys holding the trophy right now. Credit to them, they’ve earned it and deserve it by all means. But yeah, very close.”

Prescott may not check the record but we certainly can. Finding success against the NFC East has never been a problem for the Dallas quarterback. His combined record against Philadelphia, the New York Giants, and Washington Comanders since taking over in 2016 is 33-8. The Eagles are responsible for half those losses, while New York and Washington both have a pair.

Philadelphia was not the only NFC East team to make the NFC Championship. Washington, a year removed from holding the No. 2 overall pick, got there under the leadership of former Dallas defensive coordinator, Dan Quinn.

“Especially watching the NFC Championship and those two teams, teams that we battle against each and every year a couple of times,” Prescott said. “As I said, feel confident that we’ve gotten the better part each and every time.”

As shown by the division record, getting through the regular season with success has not been an issue with Prescott under center. It’s once in the playoffs where the Cowboys have faltered. Although, there has never been an NFC East opponent on the other side.

Three teams from the NFC West, the Green Bay Packers, or one matchup against Tampa Bay is who’s on the resume, sporting a 2-5 record.

Pressure to find postseason success has been there from the beginning. Each year that goes by without a Super Bowl (or even an NFC Championship) mounts even more pressure. Prescott knows it’s on the players to finally break through and bring Dallas what Philadelphia currently holds.

“It’s our turn and it’s on us,” Prescott said.
