Dak Prescott 'definitely ready' for Cowboys season opener
Dak Prescott isn’t mincing words when describing his status for the season opener against the defending Super Bowl Champions.
“I’m ready. I’m definitely ready. I’m excited. I’ve put a lot of work in to get to this point,” Prescott told reporters on Friday, via the Dallas Morning News’ Michael Gehlken.
This is obviously encouraging news as Prescott is returning from last year’s season-ending ankle injury with massive expectations.
Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy chimed in on the team’s starting quarterback, only fueling optimism about Prescott’s highly-anticipated return.
“He’s full go,” McCarthy said, reiterating there are no limitations for the Cowboys’ franchise quarterback.
Prescott plans to come out better than last year
Though the Cowboys weren’t dominating games when Dak Prescott went down early last season, the Dallas quarterback was on a record-breaking pace with 1,856 passing yards in the opening five games.
With the days dwindling until the Cowboys’ 2021 opener against the defending Super Bowl champions, it’s clear Prescott is more confident than ever.
“I have high expectations for myself. I plan to come out starting fast,” he said, via David Moore of the Dallas Morning News. “I plan to come out better than I was last year, to be honest.”

Those words are music to Dallas Cowboys fans ears. It truly sounds like ankle injury feels like a distant memory.
“I’m excited to have that behind me,” Prescott said of his ankle injury. “I don’t think about the time that I’ve missed. I was just laughing the other day with a teammate about the moment that it happened. To be that far beyond it, I’m just excited to get back to football.”
Dak Prescott may be without top offensive linemen in opener
While the Cowboys’ starting signal caller certainly feels ready, the key for Dallas this season is to keep him healthy for the entirety of the season.
As of now, there’s a chance Prescott will be without one of his top protectors in the opener against the fierce Tampa Bay defense.
Dallas Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy told reporters that starting right tackle La’el Collins will miss practice again Friday, according to NFL.com
“We’re in a holding pattern,” McCarthy said.
Collins has been sidelined for the past week with a neck stinger, an injury that first arose during training camp. The vacant reps have gone to Ty Nsekhe and Terence Steele, whom McCarthy said will be ready to start next Thursday’s NFL Kickoff Game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers should Collins not be available.
