Dak Prescott dodges bullet on Micah Parsons sack during practice
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott got briefly upended during a training camp practice on Tuesday, as the golden rule of practice — don’t touch the quarterback — was violated. It was star edge rusher Micah Parsons inadvertently clipping Prescott low on a play.
Fortunately for Dallas faithful, what could’ve been a scary moment was quickly averted as Prescott apparently popped right back up. Even though it looked like Parsons tried to bailout of the hit, he’ll surely get a talking too about giving the Cowboys signal caller a wide berth.
Plus, were this hit in a game, it’d be 15 yards for the low hit on a quarterback.
The Cowboys also surely don’t want to quench Parsons’ thirst for hitting quarterbacks either, but just make sure he and everyone else saves it for the preseason and regular season — then hitting the quarterback will be thoroughly encouraged.
Prescott has also sustained a number of lower body injuries in his career, most notably a horrific ankle injury in Week 5 of the 2020 season. He also played through a right calf strain in 2021 that he suffered during Week 6.
With star quarterbacks like Joe Burrow already suffering training camp injuries, the Cowboys certainly want to avoid adding to the list. In a potential make-or-break season for head coach Mike McCarthy, the Cowboys can’t afford to spend time without Prescott at the helm of the offense.
Either way, that inside move from Parsons looks ready to go against the rest of the NFL — just not Prescott at practice any more.
The Cowboys got a big piece back at practice alongside Parsons on defense
Newly-extended cornerback Trevon Diggs returned to the practice field for team drills for the first time in Cowboys training camp on Tuesday.

The fourth-year cornerback was previously dealing with a toe injury so he only practiced in limited capacity for the first few days of camp. His return is well-timed as Dallas currently has several members of the secondary nursing injuries, including cornerback Jourdan Lewis on PUP.
Another Cowboys injury impacting the defense this week is defensive end Sam Williams‘ shoulder strain. He exited practice early on Monday, and though he returned for individual drills on Tuesday, he once again left practice as the defense continued on to team drills.
Selected in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft, Williams had 22 tackles with four sacks and 10 tackles for loss last season.
Meanwhile, another defensive lineman, Dorance Armstrong, was working out with the rehab group due to hamstring tightness. The 2018 fourth-rounder has been a consistent contributor for Dallas over the last five seasons. In 2022, he had a career-high 8.5 sacks.
