Apparently the Cowboys narrowly avoided some harrowing news regarding star quarterback Dak Prescott ahead of Week 1.

As the NFL world prepares for the beginning of the 2022 season, Jay Glazer joined the FOX set to deliver some fascinating info regarding Prescott. According to Glazer, the quarterback gave the franchise an injury scare during practice this week, feeling like “something popped in his foot” in advance of their game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

“It felt like something popped in his foot. X-rays were negative. It seemed like he just popped some scar tissue,” stated Glazer. “They brought him back yesterday. They ran him fully. He’s fully good to go.”

Evidently, the Cowboys aren’t overly concerned with the injury, as the former Mississippi State star is a go for Sunday night’s showdown. Still, Dak Prescott has the hopes of Dallas on his shoulders, and anything remotely close to a season-altering injury is bound to cause concern.

Moreover, the information provided by Jay Glazer provides some clarity to Dak Prescott showing up on the injury report during the week. Speaking with the media during the week, the Cowboys quarterback reassured the football world he’s fine.

“I promise you I’m great,” Dak Prescott said. “Just being very, very precautious. Switched shoes today, probably wasn’t the best idea. We’re good to go. Promise that.”

Continuing, Prescott went on to explain that he was on the injury report due to NFL rules, which require every injury to be noted.

“That’s this league, and if you don’t report a hangnail, you’ll get suspended or they’ll get fined, excuse me,” Prescott said. “But, no, I feel great. I still feel the best that I’ve felt in a very, very long time. Not even comparable to where I was last year going into this game. Honestly, just excited and ready for Sunday to get here.”

If Dak Prescott is unable to go for some reason or suffers a new injury during the season, then the Cowboys will likely turn to Will Grier or Cooper Rush. However, Prescott doesn’t think this will happen now or anytime soon. When asked if this injury could sideline him, he said, “Not at all. It can’t. Not at all. Not a chance.”
