Dak Prescott updates shoulder injury

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott spoke to the media during the Hall of Fame game on Fox on Thursday night. He offered an update on his shoulder injury, a latissimus strain, he suffered earlier in the off-season.

“I’m just staying back, getting myself healthy, doing all the things necessary to get myself back on the field as soon as I can with my teammates,” Prescott said.

He gave a brief update on the rehab of the shoulder strain and how he’s approaching his rehab, too.

“Now it’s just about getting the shoulder behind me,” he said. “And we’re just being cautious, we’re taking it day-by-day. Obviously, it’s five weeks before the season opener, so got a lot of time and I’m going to use that time to get myself ready for that game.”

Cowboys offensive line

One big question mark for Prescott coming into the 2021 season is the health of his offensive line. The Cowboys offensive line was decimated with injuries last season. They lost La’el Collins, Tyron Smith, and Zack Martin to injuries at different points during the season. That’s not even mentioning the Cowboys losing center Travis Frederick to retirement.

Dak Prescott spoke a little bit during the broadcast about the offensive line. He’s really excited about having three of those four players back and healthy.

“It’s gonna feel great,” he said. “We had a lot of injuries that hurt our team and our offense last year. So just getting especially those three big guys back, Zack Martin, Tyron Smith and La’el Collins. And just having that unit back together. Every time I get in the huddle and see those guys I let them know the band is back together. There’s nothing like that when we’re all in there and healthy.”

Record-setting contract

This offseason, Dak Prescott signed with the Cowboys for four years, $160 million, according to Front Office Sports.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones even joked recently on NFL Network that he didn’t have any more money.

“Well I’ve got rocks in my pocket or I’d float off because I have no more money,” Jones said. He’s not kidding. $160 million is a massive deal. Prescott is talented but with big money comes big expectations. The pressure will be on Prescott and the Dallas offense to perform at a high level in the 2021 season.

Dak Prescott retrun from ankle injury

Dak Prescott is just coming off a devastating ankle injury he suffered in the 2020 season, prematurely ending his year. Prescott suffered a compound fracture and dislocation of his right ankle in Week 5. The severity of his injury required not one, but two surgeries. It was a very serious injury but Cowboy fans and football fans everywhere can give thanks that Prescott had an excellent recovery process.

Prescott’s injury from the 2020 season is a big reason why the Cowboys will be very cautious with his latest ailment.
