ESPN insider Adam Schefter provided an injury update on Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott Monday afternoon on SportsCenter.

Schefter revealed new details about Prescott’s injury and how much time he could miss. Earlier on Monday, it was revealed that Prescott was set to miss “multiple” weeks.

“Well, Dak Prescott has been going through testing but testing has shown that he’s got a hamstring injury that’s going to sideline him, I’m told, several weeks,” Schefter said. “Now what is several weeks? More than one. That’s what we know right now.”

Something to monitor is whether or not Dak Prescott ends up on injured reserve. If he is placed on IR, he will be out for at least four games. According to Schefter, that’s definitely a possibility.

“He said yesterday after that hamstring injury that it was unlike anything he’s felt there before. And so because of that, you have to figure, at this point in time, that the Cowboys will consider placing him on injured reserve,” Schefter said. “Now if he’s placed on injured reserve, that would be four games. We’d have absolute clarity there.”

Dak Prescott was asked about his hamstring injury following the Cowboys 27-21 loss to the Falcons. As Schefter said, he acknowledged that he had an unusual feeling.

“I gotta get it looked at,” Prescott said, via Jeff Darlington of ESPN. “Didn’t think much of it — then the next play, I felt a pull. That’s something I never felt. It was tough to walk on it at that point. I asked if I could make it worse. The [medical staff] said I wouldn’t be able to protect myself. I wanted to get out there and compete. I wanted to get out there and fight.”

Cooper Rush replaced Dak Prescott on Sunday, and he has performed well for the Cowboys in the past. Dallas also has former 49ers first round pick Trey Lance as an option.

“They have Cooper Rush on their roster. He’s 5-1 as a starter. Last year they traded for Trey Lance, also on their roster,” Schefter said. “But they will be without Dak as they make one final attempt to save their season Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles.”
