Dak Prescott named NFC Offensive Player of the Week
The MVP hype continues to build for Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, as he had another standout performance on Sunday. His showing against the New England Patriots earned him Offensive Player of the Week honors in the NFC.
In a 35-29 overtime win, Prescott threw for 445 yards and three touchdowns with a completion percentage of 70.6% and a passer rating of 108.7.
Unfortunately, Prescott did not leave Foxboro unscathed. The Cowboys leader has a strained calf that he will nurse during the team’s bye week this weekend. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is grateful the injury occurred just before his quarterback could take some time off.
“I think the fact that the bye is there, my feeling is that ought to take care of it in terms of enough time for it to get to where he can really compete normally,” Jones said, via the Dallas Morning News. “So, I think I would be probably a little concerned, a little concerned if we were playing this week. But the fact we got two could help it in terms of me, my mind, Dr. Jones being comfortable.”
The Cowboys staff is “optimistic” Prescott will be ready to go against the Minnesota Vikings on Oct. 31. The game will be the primetime Sunday Night Football game on Halloween.

Arizona Cardinals kicker Matt Prater and Los Angeles Rams safety Taylor Rapp also earned Player of the Week honors for their work.
Prater had 13 total points and made three field goals and four extra points in a win over the Cleveland Browns. Arizona is 6-0 and the only remaining unbeaten team in the NFL. Prater has yet to miss a field goal of less than 40 yards this season, and he made a 62-yard kick in Week 2 against the Vikings. He is a perfect 23-23 on PATs this year.
Rapp had four tackles, three pass break ups and two interceptions in a 38-11 rout of the New York Giants. The third-year safety out of Washington had received a swath of criticism from Rams fans this season for underperforming. He had been inconsistent in coverage, and some of the Los Angeles faithful were calling for his benching.
