Fresh off another brutal loss at home, the Dallas Cowboys are likely thankful for a short week. A trip to New York for Thursday Night Football against the Giants is next on the schedule, desperately needing to get back on track. Dak Prescott has an incredible record against the NFC East foes and is hoping to add another win.

Unfortunately, the local Dallas media will not get to hear from the quarterback heading into the week. Prescott did an interview with the Amazon Prime crew but is not scheduled to speak to reporters. The short week was the excuse given out by Cowboys officials.

An unusual move for Prescott, a person who is usually always available for questions to people on the beat.

“Team officials asked Dak Prescott not to speak with local media today due to short week,” Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News said via X. “He did talk with the Amazon broadcast crew. Prescott is normally one of the more accessible players on this team. Have a great day.”

The Cowboys are no stranger to a Thursday game as they routinely have short weeks every season. Being a primetime slot, Thursday Night Football is a yearly thing for Dallas. As is playing on Thanksgiving, always scheduled for the afternoon slot.

ESPN’s Todd Archer provided some thoughts on the matter. While Prescott not speaking is unusual — if not unprecedented — Archer does not believe anything is wrong with the quarterback.

“Dak Prescott did not speak with reporters today,” Archer said via X. “Don’t think he’s upset about anything. Don’t think he’s mad. Short week, quick turnaround, less time to get body right. But can’t remember a time he didn’t talk before a start.”

Whether Prescott talks to the media or not, he will be out there attempting to get the Cowboys’ second win of the season. In 14 career games against the Giants, just two losses are on Prescott’s resume, both occurring did his rookie year. From there, it’s been straight domination with 12 wins.

Dallas needs a similar result or else the 2024 campaign could begin to spin out of control. A tough climb is already ahead and losing to New York on prime time would make it even steeper for everyone involved with the organization.
