Dak Prescott reacts to CeeDee Lamb returning to practice, status after signing historic contract extension
The moment CeeDee Lamb agreed on a new contract with the Dallas Cowboys, the first question was about his Week 1 availability. Sunday will be a road trip to Cleveland to face the Browns and Lamb did not participate in training camp this offseason. His first practice with the team occurred at The Star in Frisco instead of out West in Oxnard.
However, Lamb does not appear to be worried about playing in a game without too much preseason prep. Thursday was a big practice day for the Cowboys and the star wide receiver says that’s all he needed. Going up against other Dallas starters was enough to get the competitive juices going again.
“I’m ready,” Lamb said via Jon Machota of The Athletic. “Today got me ready. … It was full contact, full padded practice. Got to compete against the ones. That was fun.”
With a new contract comes new expectations for Lamb. Last season, he led the NFL in receptions with 135 and was named a first-team All-Pro member after finishing third in AP Offensive Player of the Year voting.

The connection with Dak Prescott was as good as we saw in the NFL. Those two will absolutely need to hit the ground running against Cleveland. And despite not throwing each other until recently, Prescott is confident the two weeks of work was more than enough.

“He’ll be just fine. We’ve had two weeks now, getting him back in. Obviously he was in shape but just on the field, defenders are on your back, trying to catch in tight windows, he’s ready,” Prescott said.
“I mean he’s an elite player. Just turn on the film from last year and you’ll see that. He’s gotten better. So right now it’s just about, going out there and showing it for the both of us.”
Lamb has been all over the place throughout his career in season openers. Back in 2021 was his best performance, catching seven passes for 104 yards and a touchdown on 15 receptions against Tampa Bay. And then there is last season in a blowout win against the Giants, having a calm 77 yards on four receptions.
Prescott is hoping to get more of the former against Cleveland to start out a critical year 1-0.
