Dak Prescott returns to Cowboys practice after ankle soreness
Dallas Cowboys starting quarterback Dak Prescott was able to return to practice on Tuesday after sitting out Friday with ankle soreness. Due to his lingering ankle soreness, which he’s dealt with since his gruesome injury in 2021, Prescott got a bit of extra time off last week. The team was already planning to sit him for the first preseason game of the year against the Rams, and the ankle gave them even more of a reason to keep their QB1 in bubble wrap.
Tuesday’s practice is a walkthrough for Dallas before the team welcomes the Rams back for another joint practice this week. The two teams will scrimmage again after LA settled the score in the preseason game 13-12 behind the effort of Rams backup QB Stetson Bennett.
Back in pads on Wednesday, Prescott will be a full participant, according to head coach Mike McCarthy.
Before practice, the former fourth-rounder entering the final year of his contract posted an adorable family photo with his girlfriend Sarah Jane Ramos and their baby girl, MJ Rose. He captioned the photo: “So blessed with these two.” In the photo, MJ sported a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders getup.
Dak sounds off on Cowboys contract situations
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones made headlines once again last week, saying there is “no urgency” to get a deal with CeeDee Lamb done. Dallas is on Week 2 of preseason games of they’re still without their star wide receiver in training camp. It’s been a lengthy contract negotiation with seemingly no end in sight, despite Jones having a clear picture of what Lamb’s contract should look like.

Dak Prescott spoke to the media shortly after Jones’ comments. Unsurprisingly, he doesn’t feel the same as Jones about his top target’s contract.
“I can tell you I got a sense of urgency for it to happen,” Prescott said via David Moore of the Dallas Morning News.
Prescott is also going through a contract situation with the Jones’. He is currently unsigned after the 2024 season and could be heading for free agency. Both sides have said talks are ongoing and Prescott could potentially have an extension before the Sept. 8 Week 1 game against Cleveland.
Lamb is fresh off his best-ever season in the NFL, being named first-team All-Pro and finishing third in Offensive Player of the Year voting. His 135 receptions led the league while adding 1,749 yards, and 12 touchdowns — all career highs. Prescott also had an exceptional 2023 season, notching a career-high in completion percentage and topping the league in passing touchdowns with 36.
