Dak Prescott opened up about getting engaged to his girlfriend Sarah Jane Ramos last week. While speaking to reporters on Thursday, the Dallas Cowboys quarterback revealed he used a fake golf ball in his marriage proposal.

“I’m super excited. I’ve known it for a while. … I got the ring a few months ago. She had no idea. She’s a big golfer, thought we were going golfing,” Prescott said, per Jon Machota of The Athletic. “I told her that we had a lifetime to golf. … I had the ring in a fake golf ball. I dropped it. She almost hit it. I’m just glad she said yeah. Super, super blessed and happy. Thankful for this family I’ve started.”

Prescott was then asked if he was nervous about proposing to Ramos. “Obviously there are a little nerves, especially when you want it to be perfect,” he stated. “The kind of nerves you get when you go into a game. You’re ready, you’re excited about it, but you want everything to go really, really well. For me, I just kept repeating what I was gonna say because I didn’t want to (forget the words). Kept it short and sweet.”

Prescott and Ramos got engaged during the Cowboys’ bye week. The two were first linked in September 2023, after Ramos watched the Cowboys defeat the New York Giants in the season opener. Prescott and Ramos also share a baby girl who was born on Feb. 29 of this year.

Along with getting engaged, Prescott also talked about how the Cowboys have looked in the first six games of the season. With the team being 3-3 and coming off a 47-9 loss to the Detroit Lions, Prescott told reporters the Cowboys did some housekeeping to make sure they get a win on Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers.

“You go back and you look at those six weeks and you clean your house and you figure out what you’ve done wrong,” Prescott said, per the Cowboys’ official website. “What you need to get better, what haven’t you done, and I would say it was great.”
