Dak Prescott is dealing with two major issues this offseason. There’s his expiring contract. And a woman also alleges the Cowboys quarterback sexually assaulted her several years ago.

Prescott made an appearance at the Texas Children’s Cancer Fund Gala in Dallas Friday night. He took questions from reporters who asked him about both issues.

Prescott addressed the assault allegations, but the Cowboys quarterback didn’t offer details,

“I know the truth,” told reporters. “I’m confident in what we filed. Very confident in what we filed. I know some things have changed in their sense in where they filed, but that doesn’t have any weighing on what we’re doing and how we’re going about our lawsuit.”

A woman alleged that Prescott exposed himself to her and then sexually assaulted her in December, 2017. The incident allegedly occurred while the two sat in the backseat of an SUV in the parking lot of the XTC Cabaret, a strip club in Dallas. But no one knew about the allegations until last month, when they went public.

Prescott’s lawyers filed a lawsuit against the woman last month, alleging that the woman’s attorneys demanded $100 million from the Cowboys quarterback. Otherwise, the lawsuit stated, the woman would make her allegations public. Prescott filed the lawsuit in Collins County, outside Dallas.

Prescott’s suit asked for damages of $1 million. He said if he won the lawsuit, he’d donate the money to a non-profit that helped survivors of sexual abuse. The woman’s lawyers initially filed her lawsuit in Dallas County. But she since has refiled it in Collins.

Meanwhile, Dak Prescott is entering the final season of his four-year contract with the Cowboys. And sides have yet to officially begin negotiations. At one point, such talks seemed like a foregone conclusion. But Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has hinted that this could be Prescott’s final season in Dallas. He’ll be a free agent after this season.

“Honestly, I’m focused on the moment, on the now,” Prescott said. “If the talks begin and real talks get to happen, sure, we can talk about getting that done, but in this case right now I’m worried about getting better, being better than I am at this moment. So leaving that up to my agent and Jerry at this point.”

Prescott finished second to Lamar Jackson in NFL MVP voting. But Prescott and the Cowboys still can’t progress to the NFC title game. Back in January, Dallas earned the No. 2 seed in the NFC playoff bracket. But the Cowboys lost badly to the seventh-seeded Packers at home at AT&T Stadium.

The off season hasn’t all been about negative issues. Dak Prescott and his girlfriend. Sarah Jane Ramos, announced the birth of their daughter, MJ. Baby MJ was born in February.
