Dale Earnhardt Jr. makes definitive statement on Kansas race

A perfect race for Kyle Larson — including a 61-point sweep that featured a pair of stage wins — might have been boring to some. Not so for Dale Earnhardt Jr.
The veteran driver-turned-commentator chimed in with his thoughts on the race at Kansas following Larson’s win. Suffice it to say, he liked what he saw.
“Good race,” Earnhardt wrote in response to a tweet praising the overall outcome. The tweet in question?
“Kansas was good. All we missed was the late battle for the lead,” user Dale Tanhardt wrote. “Race wasn’t great, but it wasn’t bad. Green-flag racing with passing throughout the field is a good characteristic
“Other than that plethora of cautions in the final stage, today was a genuine, solid NASCAR race.”
It was also a race dominated by Kyle Larson, who vaulted himself to the top of the NASCAR Cup Series points standings. That’s nothing new, of course, as Larson now has three wins this season.

Kyle Larson discusses his win at Kansas
Now, Kyle Larson gets to go to Indianapolis to prepare for the Indy 500 as the Cup Series points leader. He is representing NASCAR as a driver and as its established points leader at the halfway point in the regular season. That’s a big deal.
“I think it’s good for our team, I think it’s good for our sport,” Larson said after his Kansas win. He reflected more on the honor.
“I think it’s good for racing that the Cup Series points leader is competing in the Indy 500 for the second year in a row. I would say last year was a goal of mine. This year, I didn’t really think about it. But I do think it puts even more of a spotlight on us and our sport.
“I do think it’s really cool, and yeah, we had a great day, so great points day. Yeah, I look forward to the next couple weeks and then actually getting to race the 600 and hopefully having the point lead after that one, too.”
