Dale Earnhardt Jr. raves about NASCAR drivers going 'above and beyond' in Netflix series
In less than a week, NASCAR: Full Speed is set to debut on Netflix. Dale Earnhardt Jr., an executive producer on the show, is excited. There are a lot of reasons to be eager for this new series and Earnhardt has given us even more.
Of course, Dale Jr. has already seen the series. He was part of the making of it and has been able to view it before the public. Speaking with Racer Mag‘s Kelly Crandall, Earnhardt talked about the drivers featured in the series.
There are nine drivers that are the main characters in the NASCAR Netflix series. Those drivers allowed the cameras to see what life was like. At the track, at home, in the motorhome, and elsewhere.
This is going to be an in-depth look at the life of these Cup Series drivers, and it’s all thanks to their effort.
“I think a lot of those drivers were selected because of their willingness to get outside of their typical responsibilities and be accessible, giving of their time, dive into a project and try to do a great job … All the drivers that were a part of it, they went above and beyond what I think even they were expecting,” Earnhardt Jr. said to Crandall. “So that was nice to see. The drivers are key to open the door. If the drivers don’t give that access, this does not work. Kudos to the ones that were involved. It helped accomplish and create the program I think Netflix wanted to create.”
So, just days away from the debut of the NASCAR series on Netflix, what are you excited about? There were a lot of wild moments at the end of the season and throughout the playoffs. Hopefully, those come through and more in the show.

NASCAR on Netflix promises to promote the sport
From these comments and others that Dale Jr. has made, I am excited about this new show. The Hall of Famer believes this is the best documentary series made about the sport. So, NASCAR fans should be excited.
While it seems like Earnhardt is an eternal optimist at times, it is his passion for the sport. If you love racing like he does, then I think the series is going to be fun for you. Netflix is good at taking a niche topic and making it palatable to a large audience. Let’s hope that happens with Full Speed.
Everyone wants to compare this to Drive to Survive but just like the two sports themselves, the two series will and should be different. F1 is thoroughbred horse racing, NASCAR is more akin to a boxing match with cars.
In a week, let’s hope we’re talking about how good this NASCAR Netflix series is and not about what it lacked. Based on the trailer that came out yesterday, I think we’re in for a fun time next Tuesday.
