Dale Earnhardt Jr. just broke down what’s next from Front Row Motorsports and Richard Childress Racing (RCR) as NASCAR is in its Silly Season. On the Dale Jr. Download podcast, Earnhardt talked about the driver that will join Front Row as well as possible changes coming for RCR and where the fourth charter from Stewart-Haas Racing is heading.

“The Front Row stuff is going to be interesting,” Earnhardt said. There’s still an unknown about where the fourth Stewart-Haas Charter… We don’t really truly know where that thing’s going to land where it will live. There’s still a lot to shake out.

“Front Row will be interesting. I think Spire may have some developments possibly. I think we know what’s going on at Trackhouse, but not everything’s been announced entirely in terms of colleague and a few other things. Rick Ware may still have some things that they have unsettled on their second car. So there’s still a lot of things that could happen over the next couple of months. The next week, two-three weeks, four weeks should shake out quite a bit.

Earnhardt also explained why Silly Season began earlier than normal. “The Stewart-Haas thing kind of kicked the ball down the road and got it going and inevitably created a stir,” Earnhardt said. “Everybody needs to know what they’re doing by August. Pushing into September is really getting late for trying to get those announcements out and trying to start to develop everything you need in terms… not only just cars and crew and people but merchandise and all of those things. That’s stuff well out in front. That’s why you want to get those seals announced and done as early as possible.”

Dale Earnhardt Jr. reacts to Rodney Childers joining Spire Motorsports

One thing that has been announced is Rodney Childers joining Spire Motrorsports to be the crew chief for Corey LaJoie. On the podcast, Earnhardt said this addition is good for LaJoie as Childers is one of the best in NASCAR.

“If Corey continues to be the driver, I think this is the opportunity — I think he has to be incredibly excited, if he’s the driver of the car next year, which I wouldn’t — I know nothing to believe he wouldn’t be,” Earnhardt said. “He’s had a bit of a tough go lately, and critics are coming out, about whether there needs to be a new direction for the No. 7 car, and I think this is his opportunity, to go and try and get the results that he thinks he’s capable of getting.”
