On Wednesday, NASCAR penalized Joey Logano for his actions on pit road after the Cook Out 400, a decision that Dale Earnhardt Jr. approves of. Logano was dinged $50,000 for doing a burnout by Austin Dillon’s pit box with his friends and family nearby on pit road.

The video of Joey Logano doing his burnout on pit road looks back. When you have women and children feet away from your car, you can’t act that way. Add in the fact that Logano was in a damaged car and had no idea what was broken or working on that car.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. did an emergency podcast to talk about the Logano and Dillon penalties. He was clear in how he felt about the decisions from NASCAR.

“Joey Logano was also fined for what we saw of his actions on pit road, $50,000,” Earnhardt said. “As far as I remember that’s pretty standard for that kind of action. Although I thought his activity on pit road was a little hairier or crazier than what I’ve seen in the past. But I also know that pit road probably shouldn’t have been that busy as far as individuals walking around, running around. So, you know if you feel like that’s fair, some might think that’s a little bit light. But NASCAR did the right thing at least by getting Joey’s attention for what he did.”

Dale Earnhardt Jr. is right here. Joey Logano had to have a punishment for his actions. It was too risky, for everyone on pit road, and had to be corrected. Good on the officials at the race for stopping him as well.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. predicted fine for Joey Logano

Before the news came out, Dale Earnhardt Jr. predicted the fine to Joey Logano. Anyone who saw what he did could have predicted it, though. It was a chaotic scene and everything was over so quickly on Sunday night.

It allowed the media and podcasts to weigh in for two and a half days. But from the start, Earnhardt thought Logano was in trouble. If anything, he overestimated how much trouble Logano was in.

“I think Joey’s going to get a big deal, big penalty from the pit road stuff,” Earnhardt Jr. said. “He pissed [people] off. So if you watch the in-car footage of Joey coming down pit road, there’s people that are crossing pit road. Which there shouldn’t be any people on pit road, it’s a live pit road.”

Dale Jr. saw it coming. Now we know the extent of the fine and penalties handed out. Did NASCAR finally get it right?
