Dale Earnhardt Jr. talks about Bristol fire, new children's book on Today Show
After his race in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, Dale Earnhardt Jr. made his way up to New York City to appear on the TODAY Show. Junior was there to not just talk about Bristol and the fire that broke out in his car, he has a new children’s book coming out as well.
The father of two young girls, Dale Earnhardt Jr. decided to get into the book business. The guy just doesn’t really know when to stop. From his NBC job to his podcast, and now being an author – all of that takes time and I don’t know where he finds it.
“Buster Gets Back on Track” is an ode to his father, Dale Earnhardt. His old nickname was Buster. That isn’t the only person from Dale Jr.’s life that finds themselves in this book. The driver and analyst says that there are multiple characters named for real-life friends and family in the book.
This was a fun segment with TODAY and a great look for NASCAR. Dale Earnhardt Jr. remains the top ambassador of the sport and will be for years to come.
These little things are great for the sport. Having media and content outside of the usual weekend race on TV is great for the sport. There are children’s books and young adult books about all kinds of sports and activities, why not NASCAR?
Dale Earnhardt Jr. is also going to be on the racetrack sooner rather than later.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. back for Homestead-Miami
For those who felt they were robbed of seeing Dale Jr. win at Bristol due to the fire, don’t worry. The 88 car is going to be back later this season in the Xfinity Series. While he couldn’t close the deal in Tennessee, perhaps Homestead-Miami is going to be better for the driver.
The last time that Dale Earnhardt Jr. raced at Homestead-Miami was back in 2020. He was great in that race, finishing P5. This is a track that Junior has had success on, but those races have been scattered throughout the 90s, 2000s, and that 2020 race.
Based on that Bristol race, I have a feeling that the Chevy is going to be ready to go. JR Motorsports had a lot of fast cars, three were wrecked in the race, and two were out front for most of the night.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. is going to return to the Xfinity Series this season. That’s great news for NASCAR fans and the sport. Let’s hope we get to see him lead more laps, hopefully, the last one.
