Cowboys CeeDee Lamb fined for waving goodbye following game-winning TD

Last Sunday, Patriots fans left Gillette Stadium with their heads in their hands due to CeeDee Lamb. Unfortunately, Lamb’s bank account took a hit due to a memorable moment after his touchdown.

After scoring the game-winning touchdown, Lamb was hit by Patriots defensive back Jalen Mills. Afterwards, Lamb let Mills know about it — smiling and waving goodbye as the game ended.

“The NFL fined Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb $10,300 for unsportsmanlike conduct – waving goodbye at Patriots DB Jalen Mills after Lamb’s winning TD last week,” tweeted NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

It’s a small price to pay for a moment that’ll live in Cowboys lore if Lamb continues his tremendous play. His performance against New England was the latest in his fantastic season — catching nine passes for 149 yards and two touchdowns.

While his performance against the Patriots was his shining game, the former Oklahoma wide receiver has put up gaudy stats in 2021. Lamb has 33 receptions on the season, accumulating 497 yards and four touchdowns.

After only playing in four games with quarterback Dak Prescott last season, the two have developed quite the connection. Moving forward, it won’t be shocking to see Prescott’s name in MVP conversations. He can thank Lamb for the assist when it comes down to it.

More Dallas Cowboys Fined

Moreover, Lamb wasn’t the only Cowboys player fined. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, both defensive back Trevon Diggs and guard Connor Williams were fined as well.

First, Diggs was fined for an unnecessary roughness penalty where he slapped a Patriots player in his face-mask. Then, Williams was fined for a critical unsportsmanlike conduct penalty that happened late in the game.

Luckily, the Cowboys were able to overcome mistakes by Lamb, Diggs and Williams on their way to victory. Their pockets may be lighter today, but they’ll be replenished if they can keep up their fantastic play this season.
