Dallas Cowboys coaching search: New details emerge about Robert Saleh interview for head coach
New details about Robert Saleh‘s interview with the Dallas Cowboys for their head coaching position have been revealed. According to NFL insider Josina Anderson, Saleh will speak to the Cowboys in person this weekend after his interview with the Las Vegas Raiders.
“Robert Saleh’s interview with the Cowboys Saturday is in-person, per league source,” Anderson wrote on X. “This will follow his interview with the #Raiders Friday, as already noted.”
Robert Saleh is looking for a new role after the New York Jets fired him as their head coach early in the 2024 season. Saleh was the Jets head coach since the beginning of the 2021 season and posted a 20-36 record. The 45-year-old has a defensive background, spending time as a defensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers from 2017 to 2020. Saleh was also a linebackers coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars (2014-2016) and won a Super Bowl when he was a defensive quality control coach for the Seattle Seahawks in 2013.
Will Robert Saleh become the next head coach of the Cowboys?
Saleh is one of the candidates the Cowboys are considering for head coach. It’s been reported Dallas is interviewing Leslie Frazier and Kellen Moore, and team owner Jerry Jones informally spoke to Deion Sanders. The Cowboys parted ways with Mike McCarthy after his contract expired at the end of the season.

“Throughout Mike McCarthy’s tenure here, including the last several weeks, I have been very complimentary of the job he has done,” Jones said. “That has applied to our record over that time period, our team unity and culture, Mike’s qualifications and track record of success, and on a personal level as a tremendous human being. I have great respect for Mike, and he has led the team through some very unique and challenging times during his tenure.”
Jones added: “Prior to reaching the point of contract negotiations, though, it became mutually clear that it would be better for each of us to head in a different direction. I thank Mike and wish him, his wife Jessica and their family the best. They have been a wonderful part of our community here.”
