Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott isn’t having the quiet offseason he might have hoped for after filing a lawsuit on Monday, which claims he’s being extorted for $100 million. A Dallas-area woman is accusing Prescott of sexual assault from an encounter they allegedly had in February of 2017. Now, Prosper Police and Dallas Police are investigating both the claim of sexual assault and the claim of extortion involving the Cowboys star quarterback.

“Dallas Police Department received a report of a sexual assault the complainant said occurred on February 2, 2017, in the 8500 block of Stemmons Freeway,” a Dallas Police spokesperson told the Dallas Morning News on Wednesday night. “This is an ongoing investigation.”

The Prosper Police Department, which handles cases in Prescott’s area of residence, is investigating the quarterback’s extortion claims, the DMN confirmed on Wednesday. He filed the lawsuit claiming extortion for the amount of $100 million in Collin County on Monday.

Prescott’s attorney told the DMN that the encounter between the QB and the alleged assault victim was consensual. Though the incident technically occurred in Plano at XTC Cabaret, the Plano Police Department has not commented on a potential investigation at this time.

The woman’s attorney, Yoel Zwhaie, took his client’s case to the Dallas radio waves this week. During an interview on 105.3 the Fan, he said his client is considering filing criminal charges.

So far, the NFL and the Dallas Cowboys have declined to comment on either the allegations against Prescott or his claims of extortion.

“Mr. Prescott — a new father to a baby girl — has great empathy for survivors of sexual assault. He fervently believes that all perpetrators of such crimes should be punished to the fullest extent of the law,” wrote Levi McCathern, Precott’s lawyer, in a statement. “To be clear, Mr. Prescott has never engaged in any nonconsensual, sexual conduct with anyone.”

“Lies hurt. Especially, malicious lies,” McCathern continued. “We will not allow the defendant and her legal team to profit from this attempt to extort millions from Mr. Prescott.”

Prescott recently became a first-time father last month. He and his girlfriend, Sarah Jane Ramos, welcomed a baby girl, ‘Baby MJ’, at the end of February. The announcement of her birth then came a few days later. He’s currently in the middle of contract negotiation with the Cowboys ahead of his ninth season.
