Injury update emerges on CeeDee Lamb, Will Grier
The Dallas Cowboys are working through a few injuries to contributors on the offensive side of the ball this preseason. Wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and quarterback Will Grier were both listed on the team’s injury report and recently have been absent at practice. But according to the update courtesy of Cowboys reporter for the Athletic, Jon Machota, fans should expect both back on the practice field soon.
“Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb (foot), QB Will Grier (groin) are both expected to do something at practice today. Mike McCarthy is hopeful that Grier will be able to play a lot Friday night,” wrote Machota via Twitter.
Earlier in August, it was reported that Lamb had a cut on his foot that required stitches. The exact reason for the cut was not revealed, but the Cowboys’ star receiver lamented that the laceration was a result of ‘clown stuff.’
On the other hand, Grier missed Dallas’s preseason-opening loss at the hands of the Denver Broncos, dealing with a groin injury. However, he was able to play this past Friday against the Chargers. With the Cowboys working through roster cuts to get down to the 53-man mark for the start of the season, Grier playing in the team’s final preseason game could prove vital for making the team.
Cowboys elect not to place Michael Gallup on PUP list amid roster cutdown
The Dallas Cowboys have been making multiple roster moves Tuesday in order to get closer to filling out their 53-man roster for the 2022 season. With multiple players being released and moved to the IR, their most notable move may be a lack of one, the decision to not place wide receiver Michael Gallup on the team’s PUP list.

Gallup suffered an injury in week 17 last season for the Cowboys on a touchdown catch versus the Cardinals where he tore his ACL. Gallup got surgery in February and has been rehabbing this entire offseason to return with the team, but also received a five-year $62.5 million dollar contract extension this offseason as well.
The contract extension automatically drew questions on when Gallup will return to play for the Cowboys, which has been pretty unclear throughout the offseason, but their recent decision not to place him on the PUP list may give some answers.
Dallas could have placed Gallup on the PUP list, which would have him missing at least the first four games of the regular season, but because they didn’t they now have the PUP option at their disposal for another week. This could be an optimistic sign that the Cowboys are anticipating an earlier return to the lineup for Gallup than initially expected.
Gallup put up 35 catches for 445 yards and two touchdowns before his injury last season, and an early season return by him would be crucial for the Cowboys’ offensive success this season.
