Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Giants Wednesday injury report
In what has been a common season opener in years past, the Dallas Cowboys will get their 2023 season started with the New York Giants. NFC East matchups are always important ones. Putting them on NBC’s Sunday Night Football only amps up the intensity. Both Dallas and New York will be looking to win the division this year, with the battle beginning immediately in Week 1.
However, both teams are still dealing with some injuries heading into Sunday night. The latest injury report was released on Wednesday, with a total of 11 players being mentioned. New York is likely in a better spot than Dallas, having everyone at least participate in practice.
The Cowboys saw three key players on the sidelines on Wednesday. Not exactly the news you want to hear just a few days before the season opener. Getting them back in practice before Friday will tell us a lot about their status on Sunday.

Dallas could be without three key players
The first name that pops off the injury report is Tyler Smith. Dallas’ first-round pick from last year, Smith has the ability to play multiple spots on the offensive line. He is projected to slot in at left guard to begin the season but his debut could be delayed.
Reports indicate Smith suffered a hamstring strain in practice. Owner/general manager Jerry Jones stated the offensive lineman will be ready to play on Sunday but not participating in practice on Wednesday is not a positive development.
According to the unofficial depth chart, Asim Richards would be the one to start in the place of Smith if he is eventually ruled out by the Cowboys.
Donovan Wilson would be a big loss for the Dallas secondary if he is not able to play. A calf issue can be a serious one, especially for a defensive back. Making sure Wilson is 100% healthy will be the goal, especially since it’s only Week 1 of a long NFL season.
