Dallas Cowboys interview Kevin Koger for offensive coordinator job
In the past two days, the Dallas Cowboys have interviewed Arizona offensive line coach Klayton Adams and Atlanta tight end coach Kevin Koger for their offensive coordinator job. The news was relayed on Wednesday evening by Todd Archer of ESPN. Koger is currently the tight ends coach for the Atlanta Falcons. Before joining Atlanta, he worked with the LA Chargers as their tight ends coach.
On Friday, the Dallas Cowboys promoted offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer to head coach. The organization is giving Schottenheimer a four-year deal, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Schottenheimer will replace Mike McCarthy, who was the Cowboys’ head coach from 2020-24. The Cowboys officially parted ways with McCarthy on Jan. 13, after he failed to lead the team to the playoffs. During McCarthy’s four years at the helm of the organization, the Cowboys posted a 49-35 record and a 1-3 mark in the postseason.
Koger joined the Atlanta Falcons in February of 2024. He spent three years with the Chargers from 2021-2023. Under his guidance, Gerald Everett caught 51 passes in 2023, the second-most in a single season in his entire career. His 51 catches were eighth most among tight ends in the AFC and second on the team, behind Keenan Allen with 108.

In his first two seasons (2021-2022) with LA, Koger was part of an offensive staff that churned out a top five passing offense and a top 10 offense each year. The Chargers ranked third in passing offense (269.6 yards per game) and ninth in total offense (359.3 yards per game) in 2022.
Before joining the Chargers, he spent time with the Green Bay Packers as an offensive quality control coach. His college football coaching career started out with the Michigan Wolverines in 2013-2014, where he worked as a grad assistant. In 2015, he served in the same role for the Tennessee Volunteers. And then for Eastern Kentucky (2016-2018), Koger worked as their wide receivers coach and special team’s coordinator.
As a player in high school, Koger was an All-Ohio selection for Toledo Whitmer in Toledo, Ohio. He went on to play at the University of Michigan, where he earned honorable mention All-Big Ten honors as a tight end his senior year.
