The Dallas Cowboys’ first preseason game has been over for just minutes but Brandon Aubrey is already headed out.

Quickly after Dallas lost 13-12 to the Los Angeles Rams in SoFi Stadium, Aubrey was seen exiting the venue to meet his wife for the birth of their child.

A gender reveal involving Dallas’ team shared that the Aubreys would be having a boy.

Aubrey is going into his second season with the Cowboys after spending two years with the Birmingham Stallions in the USFL. Prior to that, he has no placekicking background with him having played soccer at Notre Dame as well as in the MLS and USL. However, Dallas signed him after he connected on 32 of 37 field goals and at a 97% rate on his extra points.

That deal ended up worth it for both sides. Aubrey ended up being a First-Team All-Pro and Pro Bowler in his rookie season in the NFL. He did so after making 36 of 38 (94.7) field-goal attempts and 49 of 52 (94.2%) of his extra points. That includes making all 10 of his field goals from 50-plus yards out. He also had 109 kickoffs with 99 being touchbacks with an average yardage of 64.8.

In the one-point loss today in LA, Aubrey went four of five, including a long of 52. He made all three from 30-39 but missed another from more than 50 yards out. Still, he accounted for all dozen of the Cowboys’ points in the defeat.

Today didn’t go Dallas’ way on the field. It could still end up special for Aubrey, though, if he makes it back in time for his boy’s birth.

Stetson Bennett makes fourth-quarter magic with game-winning touchdown

Stetson Bennett saw his first live action in over a year on Sunday afternoon.

Bennett got off to an incredibly rough start by throwing four interceptions. Still, he ultimately found the magic right when he needed to in the closing seconds of the Rams preseason matchup against the Cowboys.

With just seconds remaining, Bennett spun to his left and delivered a game-tying touchdown toss to Miller Forristall. Los Angeles drilled the extra point and won the game with that at 13-12.

Aside from the four interceptions, Bennett put up some pretty solid numbers by completing 24 passes for 224 total yards.

Bennett was selected by the Rams in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft after having a historic career with the Georgia Bulldogs.

Bennett was placed on the reserve/non-football illness last year on September 13th and was ruled out for the entire season. He returned to practice in late May and told reporters he wanted to keep the reason he went away “in house”.
