Dallas Cowboys long snapper Jake McQuaide suffers potential season-ending injury

NFL veteran and Dallas Cowboys long snapper Jake McQuaide suffered a torn tricep, potentially ending his 2022 season, according to Nick Eatman of DallasCowboys.com. The team has since worked out multiple replacements with the option to sign one or more to the practice squad before making a final decision on the final roster for Sunday.

At 35-year old, Jake McQuaide is in the 12^th year of his career and second with the Dallas Cowboys following a decade in the Rams organization, spanning from their days in St. Louis to the Los Angles move. He is a two-time Pro Bowler who played collegiately at Ohio State before going undrafted in 2011.

The Cowboys face the Rams on the road this week, with kickoff scheduled for 4:25 pm ET on FOX.

Cowboys make roster moves at QB

The Dallas Cowboys made a key roster decision on Tuesday after receiving an update on the status of quarterback Dak Prescott against the Rams. With Prescott out another week, Dallas has already made the call to sign Will Grier to the 53-man roster from the practice squad before normal practice squad elevations.

“Cowboys are signing quarterback Will Grier from practice squad to 53-man roster, person familiar with situation said. He will be No. 2 quarterback this Sunday at Rams behind Cooper Rush with Dak Prescott (thumb) missing a fourth straight game. Grier was out of standard elevations,” detailed Dallas Morning News‘ Michael Gehlken.

The move comes fresh off the report that Prescott’s return to the playing field will take at least one more week. Originally, Dallas and Prescott had targeted this week’s game against the Rams as his potential return date — a date that could now be against the undefeated Philadelphia Eagles next week.

Despite losing Prescott in the season-opening loss against Tampa Bay, Dallas rallied behind Cooper Rush in a big way. The Cowboys went on to take down two of their NFC East rivals in Washington and New York, as well as the reigning AFC champion Bengals, to improve to 3-1 on the season. Dallas now turns their sights towards the other team to appear in last year’s Super Bowl, the NFL champion Rams.
