There are a lot of big personalities inside of the Dallas Cowboys front office, with none being bigger than owner/general manager Jerry Jones. Between him and Executive Vice President Stephen Jones, questions always arise as to who has the final call on decisions, especially regarding the NFL Draft.

On Tuesday, Jerry addressed how the Cowboys approach the process, saying Dallas includes everyone in the decision. However, he could not help himself to make a joke about who makes the better overall decision, saying he made the decision to draft Micah Parsons while Stephen called for first-round bust Taco Charlton.

“Our process is an inclusive one, we’ve said it,” Jerry Jones said. “There’s a lot of talk in this business about who makes the call, who actually makes the call. Taco was Stephen’s call. Parsons is my call.”

Stephen found humor in it himself, laughing along with head coach Mike McCarthy and the rest of the media.

“That’s not that funny to me,” Stephen Jones said with a smile on his face, playing into the joke.

You can watch the full moment here.

Charlton was drafted No. 28 overall by Dallas in the 2017 NFL Draft but his Cowboys career was short-lived. He did not quite live up to expectations, recording just four sacks during his two seasons. Jerry Jones decided it was time to move on before the 2019 season and now, Charlton has played for three different teams over the past three years.

As for Parsons — who Jerry claims was his call — he proved to be one of the best picks in last year’s draft, winning NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year. A night and day difference between the two, Parsons is on track to be the franchise’s defensive anchor for years to come.

Both Jerry and Stephen will have important decisions to make this weekend, with the 2022 NFL Draft set to get underway on Thursday. Once their first-round selection is revealed, maybe the two won’t say whose decision it was until we know how he pans out.
