Cowboys owner Jerry Jones reflects on first six games of season

Dallas is right in the thick of things when it comes to the NFC and NFL picture so far in 2023. Even so, as the man in charge of the Cowboys, how does Jerry Jones himself feel about the franchise’s performance over their first six games?
Jones answered that question on 105.3 The Fan on Tuesday. While the Cowboys sit at a more than respectable 4-2, he did look back to Week 5 and wish the team had played better in their Sunday Night Football matchup with San Francisco, especially with how they’ve looked in their two games since.
“I would’ve liked to have played better against the 49ers,” admitted Jones. “You see a team step up and play like Minnesota did and their quarterback did? (San Francisco) can be had.”
If you remove the 49ers loss from their resume, Dallas is 4-1 with an average point differential of 17.2 points. Their offense would be second in the league at 28.8 points per game while their defense would be the best by giving up just 11.6.
Instead, that 42-10 loss inside Levi’s Stadium was an indictment on the Cowboys as a whole. With that result included, their statistics are 3.1 points worse on offense and 5.7 points worse on defense. It also made people question the team’s ceiling considering they looked like that against another contender after handling their business against lesser competition.
Dallas could be in a much worse spot than they are at as they’re second in the NFC East, fifth in the NFC, and just outside the Top-10 in the NFL. That’s why, with over a quarter of their season over and their bye week behind them, Jones is pleased as he looks forward to the rest of their campaign.
“4-2? I will take it, for sure,” Jones said. “But we have better football ahead of us.”
Micah Parsons pushes back on Cowboys narrative
Micah Parsons is taking exception to how his team gets treated by the media. The Cowboys star believes there’s unfair criticism of the team, specifically when it comes to Dak Prescott.

On his podcast, ‘The Edge with Micah Parsons’, the linebacker recently called out the media for their inconsistent treatment of the Cowboys. He was specifically baffled with how the 49ers (lost to the Browns) and Eagles (lost to the Jets) received passes. Yet when Dallas loses a game, he feels Prescott gets piled on.
“I just don’t condone the bashing of Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys and (not) have the same energy for the Eagles,” Parsons said via NFL Media. “The Eagles were healthy. They had Jalen Hurts, they had their receiving corps, they had their explosive weapons. They didn’t have Lane Johnson. I will admit they didn’t have Lane Johnson. But does that make that much of a difference? Because I see my quarterback, you know, maybe not have the red-zone success. But move the ball way better than the Eagles did Sunday night.
“We want the same energy for everybody. Because there’s a whole bunch of bashing when it’s Dak Prescott but not the same when it’s the Eagles.”
Parsons then said that he would rather the media just say that they’re against the Cowboys.
“If y’all just going to hate Cowboys nation? Just say y’all hate Cowboys nation,” Parsons said. “But don’t sit here and throw shade on us. Keep the same energy for everybody. That’s all it is.”
