Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has unique message for his team vs. Falcons
The Dallas Cowboys are going to try and put last week’s 30-16 loss to Denver behind them this week. Ahead of the matchup, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones had an interesting message for his team on one of his regular appearances on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas.
Jones, talking to “The Shan and RJ Show,” talked about how it’s a “significant game” and his team can’t go in thinking it’ll be easy.
“This is going to be a significant game for us,” Jones said. “But I can tell you one thing. You won’t have any overconfident people coming to that stadium with the team or the coaches. We’ve had that cheese.”
Last week was the Cowboys’ worst game of the season on both sides of the ball. Dallas was down 30-0 through three quarters before rattling off 16 points in the final stanza. Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn noted his team has “got some s— to fix” after the game and they need to work on “finishing plays.”
This week will mark Quinn’s first time playing Atlanta since the Falcons fired him as their head coach last year. Quinn took over for Mike Nolan as Dallas’ defensive coordinator and has turned the Cowboys defense around this season.

Before giving up 30 points to the Broncos, the Cowboys were averaging 18.9 points allowed per game through their first seven games. Last year, they allowed 29 points per game, which speaks to the job Quinn has done reinventing Dallas’ defensive identity.
It also helps that Trevon Diggs and Micah Parsons are playing well. Diggs leads the NFL with seven interceptions and Parsons has five sacks through his first eight NFL games.
Dallas will try to get back on track against Atlanta on the road on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET.
