Dallas Cowboys reveal amazing name for creative play call package
After a season of struggles in 2020, the Dallas Cowboys offensive line has bounced back in a big way. Three of the best in the league have gotten healthy in right tackle La’el Collins, right guard Zack Martin, and left tackle Tyron Smith.
During Sunday Night Football against the Vikings, offensive coordinator Kellen Moore found a way to get seven offensive linemen into the game. Collins and Connor McGovern played as fullbacks, blocking for Ezekiel Elliot and Tony Pollard.
Martin said the Cowboys calls it the “hulk package,” a fitting name. Between Collins and McGovern, there was a total of 628 pounds getting a running start on their blocks.
“A lot of beef on the field,” Martin said. “It was great to get those big guys on the field, and we had some good plays out of it tonight.”
Cowboys’ head coach Mike McCarthy seemed to enjoy the formation as well.
“It’s the biggest inverted bone formation I’ve ever seen in my life,” McCarthy said. “We’re trying to break records around here.”

With the success of the formation, there is a good chance we see it down the road for the Cowboys. They rank in the bottom half of the NFL in red-zone touchdown percentage. Getting seven different offensive linemen near the goal line will help it go up.
Collins in Dallas’ backfield after suspension return
Sunday was the first time Collins was eligible to play for Dallas after his five-game suspension for violating the league’s substance policy agreement. Instead of getting his starting right tackle spot back, Terrance Steele has held down the fort.
Collins commented on his suspension before the Minnesota game.
“All I will say about that is I have no reason to bribe a drug collector. Never have, never will,” Collins said. “It was nothing like that. It started off as a joke among a few guys and went the wrong way. Like I said, there was nothing in my system that would have led me to try to get out of testing. I knew I was getting tested randomly. I was being tested a lot, 10-plus times a month sometimes. There was no way getting around that and still isn’t. It is what it is.”
Left guard was seen as an option for Collins as well but McCarthy decided to hold him out from the starting five. Even when Smith went down with another injury at left tackle, Ty Nsekhe was the replacement.
