Cowboys provide injury update on Tyron Smith
Sunday is not looking good for Dallas Cowboys offensive tackle Tyron Smith.
Smith, who is dealing with a nagging bone spur ankle injury, is unlikely to play this weekend against the Atlanta Falcons. A Thursday injury report from the Cowboys said Smith did not practice.
On a positive note, per Jon Machota of The Athletic, Dallas currently believes Smith will not need surgery. He is currently rehabbing the injury, and it was reported that he is “making progress.”
Terence Steele will take all of the reps at left tackle at practice on Friday. He posted a subpar performance last weekend in a 30-16 rout by the Denver Broncos after switching from right tackle to left tackle. Prescott was sacked twice, but he was under pressure for a large portion of the game.
“I would say it was a little harder than I thought it would be,” Steele said, per the Cowboys website. “They have a good defense, good D-ends, and they were giving me a challenge.”
Steele filled in for La’el Collins at right tackle while he served a suspension earlier this season.

Dallas will look to get back on track this weekend against the surging Atlanta Falcons. After starting 1-3, Atlanta has won three of their last four games. Of note for this weekend, Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn was the Falcons head coach from 2015-2020.
The game kicks off at noon CT on Fox. The Cowboys are favored by 9 points at home, and they are looking to move to 4-1 on the season at AT&T Stadium.
Cowboys dealing with plethora of injuries
The Cowboys Thursday injury report was a long one, as several of their stars are dealing with issues.
Wide receiver Amari Cooper and running back Ezekiel Elliott were limited in practice this week. They played last week against Denver, but they did not post their usual stats. Wide receiver CeeDee Lamb was a full participant in practice, which is great news, especially if Cooper is not 100%. Additionally, wideout Cedrick Wilson did not practice Thursday.
With veteran kicker Greg Zuerlein likely out of Sunday’s game due to COVID-19 protocols, the Cowboys signed kicker Lirim Hajrullahu. He went 12 for 12 in his Wednesday workout. The former CFL All-Star, 31, will be making his regular season debut.
They also worked out former Cowboys kicker Brett Maher.
