Dallas Cowboys provide update after fire catches at team hotel
You never quite know what might happen at an NFL training camp and an odd occurrence struck the Dallas Cowboys on Tuesday evening.
Right as the team was going through its walk-through practice on Tuesday, a fire broke out in the team’s hotel and firefighters could be seen arriving on the scene to contain it.
The Dallas Cowboys provided an update on the situation on Tuesday night.
“There was a fire emergency in one of the guest rooms this afternoon at the team’s hotel in Oxnard, Calif.,” a press statement read. “The emergency was contained to one room, that was empty at the time, and there were no injuries. The Dallas Cowboys thank the Oxnard Fire Department and Oxnard Police Department for their quick response and reaction to the situation.”
While the actual fire was put out in short order and didn’t cause any major distress, the team was in the middle of providing some potentially very favorable updates.
Contract talks progressing for key Dallas Cowboys
Owner Jerry Jones provided a couple of key updates on Tuesday when it came to contracts, with the most pressing being that of quarterback Dak Prescott.

Prescott and the team would love to work out details on an extension before the season begins. But for now, Prescott will play under his current deal.
“We’re just continuing to talk,” Jones said via Nick Harris of DallasCowboys.com. “Since we’re [approaching] in-season, we’re operating under the existing contract.”
Jones also provided an update on a possible extension for receiver CeeDee Lamb.
“We’re in good shape there and we are having promising talks,” Jones said of Lamb, via ESPN’s Todd Archer. “You say, ‘Well, why do you keep talking? Why don’t you do something?’ Again, as in anything, it takes both of you there at the same time.
“But I believe it’s got the proper amount of everything – emphasis, importance – for everybody involved here and we’ll see how it goes.”
