Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott showed off his dance moves this weekend at the wedding of his former left tackle Tyron Smith, dispelling concerns about his ankle, which he had in a walking boot last week. Fans aren’t used to seeing the franchise quarterback cut loose but that’s exactly what he did as he danced in front of his girlfriend Sarah Jane Ramos. The ankle soreness that prompted him to wear a boot while on vacation in Mexico appears to be long gone.

Tyron Smith’s wedding had quite a lot of Cowboys flavor despite the veteran making his exit from the team this offseason in free agency. The long-time left tackle for Dallas had former Cowboys linemen La’El Collins and Cameron Erving as groomsmen.

On Tuesday at a youth camp in Southlake, Prescott told reporters that there’s “absolutely nothing” wrong with his ankle. He claimed he experienced soreness in his right ankle, which was surgically repaired following his gruesome 2020 injury.

“Honestly, I’m getting older,” he said. “Same ankle that I snapped and had a nasty surgery on four years ago, so a couple of hard days of training, you get a little sore. I went on a fishing trip and wanted to protect it so it didn’t get worse. Literally, it’s absolutely nothing. I’m getting older and having to take care of my body.”

Reports last week suggested that Prescott received an MRI, though the Cowboys did not confirm that. Another report also indicated that he had an “ankle sprain,” but that wasn’t confirmed by the team or the quarterback either.

Prescott comments on contract talks before camp

The Cowboys players still have a couple of weeks left to relax before they report in Oxnard, California for training camp. Prescott is entering the final year of his contract with Dallas and an extension is not expected to get done before camp, so his focus is on getting ready for the season.

“There’s been conversations back and forth,” the quarterback told reporters on Tuesday. “But for the most part, I’ve been letting my agent do that, especially as we get going into training camp. Day one of training camp, my mind flips towards helping my team and doing everything I can within the organization and on the football field to make sure I’m the best and everyone around me is their best. The money and all of that will take care of itself as it always has.”

The 2024 season will be Prescott’s ninth in the league. He ended last season with the most passing touchdowns (36) among all starting quarterbacks while going 12-5 in the regular season. He posted a completion rate of 69.5%, which was a career-high mark.
