Dallas Cowboys signing Tee Higgins suggested by former NFL GM Mike Tannenbaum

Of all the moves the Cowboys could make this offseason, Mike Tannenbaum thinks they should bring Tee to the Big-D.

Tannenbaum suggested that Dallas sign WR Tee Higgins while on ‘Get Up’ on Thursday morning. He thinks pairing him with QB Dak Prescott and WR CeeDee Lamb would further open up their offense with another target for a passing game that’s been one of the league’s best in five of the past six seasons.

“What a stat from Hembo here. The best year, arguably, of Dak Prescott’s career is when he had Amari Cooper as the number two. 37 touchdown passes in 2021,” noted Tannenbaum. “Everyone is taking CeeDee Lamb away. Boy, if you could bookend him with Tee Higgins, that changes the entire complexion of this offense.”

Matt Barrie and Harry Douglas were both interested by the idea of that on ESPN. Dallas will need to do more, but there’s certainly not much wrong with this move in what would create one of the best receiver duos in the NFL.

“There’s going to be so many suitors for Tee Higgins and Dallas will absolutely be one of those,” said Barrie. “Especially, like you said a moment ago, CeeDee Lamb? He’s kind of a one-man wolfpack. I think you need to pair him up with someone with Dallas.”

“I actually like that move. That’s the true definition of Jerry Jones in 2024 saying ‘all in.’ Now, we haven’t seen that from Jerry. Does he have the kahunas to actually pull the strings and bring in a wide receiver that can be the 1b to CeeDee Lamb’s 1a? That would be very, very good for Dak Prescott and also this offensive system,” Douglas added. “I still believe they need to focus on the run game and become a balanced attack. But, when you have two guys that can win one-on-one on the outside, it’s going to be hell trying to stop that combo.”

Higgins just finished his fifth season in the league having spent all of them with the Cincinnati Bengals. He has 330 catches in that career for 4,595 yards and 34 touchdowns. That includes this past year where, despite playing in just a dozen games with a career-low of nine starts, Higgins caught a career-best of 10 scores off of 73 receptions, one shy of tying his career-high, for 911 yards.

Higgins was never able to become their true lead receiver, though, over his half decade there. That’s with him sharing the corps with Tyler Boyd and then since the arrival of Ja’Marr Chase. Now, after a season spent playing on the franchise tag, he’s set to be a free agent with him being one of the top available names for multiple teams, including coming back to Cincy, to consider across the NFL.

One of those franchises could now be Dallas with what Higgins could do for the Cowboys’ offense.
