Dallas Cowboys to host multiple running backs, offensive linemen for top-30 visits this week
As the 2024 NFL Draft approaches, the Dallas Cowboys are knocking out top-30 prospect visits at the Star this week. DallasCowboys.com reported a new batch of top-30 visits this week and the group includes a bundle of running backs and multiple highly-coveted offensive linemen.
For the second time in three years, Jerry Jones is considering drafting an offensive lineman in the first round of the draft. The team parted ways with long-time left tackle Tyron Smith in free agency and with so many elite linemen in this year’s draft, it seems like the perfect time to restock.
Though Taliese Fuaga will likely be off the board by the time the Cowboys pick at No. 24 overall later this month, the team is hosting the Oregon State tackle for a top-30 visit. He rose dramatically on draft boards after the Senior Bowl and is now considered a consensus first-round pick. Also in need of a center, the Cowboys will host Oregon star Jackson Powers-Johnson. They’ll also host versatile tackle/center Graham Barton out of Duke.
On top of Texas star Jonathon Brooks, the Cowboys are hosting multiple running backs that they could draft in the second, third or even fourth round. They’ll bring in Wisconsin’s Braelon Allen, Oregon running back Bucky Irving and top-3 running back prospect Trey Benson out of FSU. Dallas watched as starting running back Tony Pollard walked this offseason for a new deal with the Tennessee Titans, though they did re-sign Rico Dowdle.
Other reported top-30 prospect visits for the Cowboys include Texas running back Jonathon Brooks, Texas A&M linebacker Edgerrin Cooper and Kentucky linebacker Trevin Wallace.

They’ll also bring in to more potential defensive additions – Michigan linebacker Junior Colson, a projected second-rounder, and Missouri edge rusher Darius Robinson, a potential late first-rounder. Colson had 101 tackles as a second-year contributor for the Wolverines and followed it up with 95 tackles on the way to the national title. Robinson, meanwhile, had a career-high 8.5 sacks as a sixth-year senior for the Tigers.
Cowboys 2024 NFL Draft picks
The Cowboys currently own seven picks in the 2024 NFL Draft. They have four of the original picks (RD1.PK24, RD2.PK56, RD3.PK87, and RD7.PK244). Dallas also received two compensatory picks (RD5.PK174, RD6. PK216). They also acquired a seventh-round pick (RD7.PK233) via trade with the Raiders. The only round the team currently does not have a selection in is the fourth.
The Cowboys sent a fourth-round pick to the 49ers last year for former first-round QB Trey Lance. They also gave a fifth-round pick to the Chiefs for a six-round pick in last year’s draft, with which they drafted cornerback Eric Scott Jr. They gave up a sixth-round pick to Houston in exchange for wide receiver Brandin Cooks last offseason as well.
