Dallas Cowboys to sign former Bears linebacker Jack Sanborn

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Dallas Cowboys are set to sign linebacker Jack Sanborn to a one-year deal. Sanborn previously played for the Chicago Bears and has some familiarity with the newly hired Cowboys coaching staff. A nice move for Dallas as the new league year gets underway.
“Source: Free-agent linebacker Jack Sanborn plans to sign with the #Cowboys on a one-year deal,” Fowler said. “Reunited with Matt Eberflus and Dave Borgonzi, who coached him for three years in Chicago on his way to 164 tackles, 14 for loss.”
Linebacker is a massive position of need for Dallas. A mix of talent and depth is needed, mainly due to the injury of DeMarvion Overshown. Maybe still an area the Cowboys might address during the 2025 NFL Draft but signing Sanborn is a positive step.
Sanborn played his college ball at Wisconsin and was named first-team All-Big Ten for the 2021 season. He went through the 2022 NFL Draft process but was not selected. Chicago landed him as an undrafted free agent and got a lot of value.
As Fowler mentioned, Sanborn recorded 164 tackles and 14 tackles for a loss during his time with the Bears. Of the 48 career games played, 19 of them have been starts. Eberflus has previously shown trust in Sanborn and might do so again in Dallas.
Exact contract details for Sanborn has yet to be released. Either way, he will be wearing a star on his helmet for the 2025 season.

Dallas Cowboys trade for Bills cornerback Kaiir Elam
The Dallas Cowboys are set to scoop up a former first-round NFL Draft pick via a trade. The Buffalo Bills are dealing cornerback Kaiir Elam.
NFL insider Josina Anderson first reported news of the expected trade on Wednesday. She did not include any potential terms.
Shortly after Anderson’s report broke, Buffalo confirmed details of the trade. Buffalo will receive a fifth- (2025) and future seventh-round pick (2026) in exchange for Elam and a sixth-round pick (2025).
Kaiir Elam has spent the first three years of his career in Buffalo after the Bills selected him with the No. 23 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. He’s had mixed results.
In 2024, Elam played in 13 games again, recording 26 tackles and two passes defended. However, as the postseason came around, he was used essentially only as an emergency backup as other players left the lineup due to injury.
