The Dallas Cowboys will reportedly host former Steelers-turned-Raiders wide receiver Martavis Bryant for a workout on Tuesday, according to NFL reporter Dianna Russini. Bryant hasn’t played a game in the NFL since 2018 after he received an indefinite suspension from the league for violating substance abuse policies.

The Cowboys are fresh off of a stinging 28-23 loss against NFC East rival Philadelphia. They have an open spot on the practice squad after elevating a linebacker to the active roster last week.

“He’s a guy that’s a big, strong, fast receiver that we’ll certainly take a look at,” Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones said on 105.3 The Fan on Monday.

Last week, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell officially reinstated the wide receiver so he could take a stab at a second run in the league. Bryant began training for a comeback and joined the XFL last summer. He also played in the CFL in 2021 with the Toronto Argonauts. During his season with the Las Vegas Vipers of the XFL, he had 14 catches for 154 yards.

Bryant played for the Steelers from 2014-17 and the Raiders in 2018. In 2016, he was forced to miss the season because of suspension. In his three seasons on the field with Pittsburgh, the receiver accounted for 1,917 yards and 17 touchdowns on 126 catches. Bryant totaled 19 receptions for 266 yards in his half-season with the Raiders.

The Steelers selected Bryant out of Clemson in the 2014 NFL Draft in the fourth round. He’ll turn 32 next month.

Cowboys move Rashaan Evans to active roster for Week 9

The Dallas Cowboys were in desperate need of a boost to their defensive depth following the injury to linebacker Leighton Vander Esch that landed the starter on IR. To rectify the depth issue, the team signed former first-round draft pick Rashaan Evans to the practice squad. For Week 9’s game against the Eagles, the team opted to elevate Evans to the active roster.

Evans had 159 tackles in 17 starts for the Falcons last season before joining the Philadelphia Eagles’ practice squad this offseason. For Dallas, he’s now wearing the No. 57 jersey.

He played four seasons with the Titans before parting ways when the team opted not to exercise his fifth-year option.

In his career, the former Alabama Crimson Tide star has started 55 games. Evans has totaled 317 tackles with 15 tackles for loss, 13 quarterback hits and three sacks. He also posted eight passes defended, with two interceptions, a forced fumble and three fumble recoveries. He also scored a touchdown on one of the recovered fumbles.
